Concordia Lutheran Church is an Evangelical, Sacramental, Liturgical, Old-Fashioned Lutheran Christian Church.
By Evangelical, we mean that we have good news for you! Sins are all forgiven in Jesus Christ. He fulfilled every righteous requirement of God’s Law in our place. He suffered the full penalty for all our transgressions when He died on the cross.
By Sacramental, we mean that the benefit of all that Jesus did and suffered for us comes to us through certain gifts that He gives. Through these gifts, the Holy Spirit creates and sustains saving faith in our hearts: The Holy Word, Holy Baptism, Holy Absolution, and Holy Communion.
By Liturgical, we mean that we take the administration of Christ’s gifts seriously and treat them reverently, and that these gifts are the focus of our worship.
By Old-Fashioned Lutheran, we mean that God has given us His truth in the Holy Bible for us to know it, firmly believe it, and confess it before the world. We find those truths clearly and faithfully expressed in the Confessions of the historic Lutheran faith.
By Christian, we mean that our faith is in Christ, through Christ, and about Christ. We preach Christ Crucified for Sinners, and the Mysteries that flow from Him as Gifts. Here we find forgiveness for all sins & peace with God. These are the source of our Identity. These are the source of Meaning for us, and the answer to our Purpose in Life.
Concordia is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (The Little Norwegian Synod) based in Mankato, Minnesota. The ELS is a federation of Lutheran congregations committed to the hallmarks of the Lutheran Reformation:
- We are Saved by Grace Alone,
- We are Saved through Faith Alone,
- According to the teachings of Scripture Alone,
- So we trust in Christ Alone.
